This holiday cottage for 1 to 4 people is in Vlessart, an authentic, rural and wooded village in the Ardennes, in the heart of the 7,000-hectare beech forest of the Grande Forêt d'Anlier. It is recently built with natural materials: timber frame, interior and exterior cladding in wood, insulated with straw bales and clay. The cottage faces due south to take advantage of the sun's warmth in winter, and the terrace is sheltered from summer sun and overheating by a roof designed according to the sun's rotation. It has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a large living area and a fitted kitchen. The décor combines the Alps and the Ardennes: wood, touches of forest and the omnipresence of the lord of our forests, the stag. You will find the stag on a tapestry, its antlers above the fireplace and in various objects. Some walls are in clay and others are covered with boards from old Austrian chalets and barns. You will find all the gentleness and beauty of natural and noble materials, harmoniously matched in warm colours. It is ideally situated for walking, cycling and horse-riding excursions straight from the door, with more than 50 routes of 2 to 50 km. You are at the gateway to the Gaume and the recent national park of the Semois valley, where you can go kayaking. Close by are important historical sites such as Orval Abbey, the castles of Bouillon and Vianden, the Gallo-Roman museums and excavations at Arlon and Habay and the Battle of the Bulge museums at Bastogne. The stag's bellow is the call of the stags during the rutting season. You can hear it in Vlessart by opening the window after sunset, from mid-September to mid-October.
