Han-sur-Lesse is one of the best-known destinations in Wallonia. This village in the province of Namur owes its worldwide fame to its caves, the Caves of Han, which are among the most impressive karst caves in Europe. The Lesse winds through a broad valley, the forests are extensive, and the Domaine des Grottes de Han is home not only to the caves but also to a wildlife park devoted to European animals.

A holiday in Han-sur-Lesse combines nature, adventure and quiet in a special way. Walkers climb the plateau above the caves for views over the Lesse valley. Canoeists paddle the Lesse down from Houyet or Gendron to Han, a trip of several hours through spectacular scenery. Rochefort, five kilometres away, offers more sights and good breweries.

Holiday homes in Han-sur-Lesse and the immediate surroundings are mainly chalets and small stone houses in the Namur style: blue stone, white pointing, shutters. Some stand within walking distance of the cave entrance, others are tucked away in the woods on the hillsides. The high season runs from Easter to October, but winter is also worth a visit for anyone seeking walks and silence.
